Heroes is back next week, but it hasn't been on since before Christmas. After all that time of no Heroes, and the fact that season two was a bit rubbish, has let if fallen off my radar somewhat and I know it's fall off the radar of others. However, I've been reading's morning spoiler reports regularly for months now and seem to have acquired a vague idea of what's going on. So to refresh everyone's excitement for the show (read: trying to make it so I'm not the only person still watching it) I bring you:

Heroes Season Three Spoilers: The Good, the Bad and the WTF?

(Spoilers, obviously. Also, I may be wrong as to some spoiler (but I don't think so) and as to what turns out to be a good storyline and what turns out to be a bad storyline - I am after all, pre-judging based on little fact)

The Good

  • Nathan lives!

  • Evil escaped supers from the Company cause havoc (and hopefully many fight scenes)

  • Bennet's back working for the Company, hunting down escaped evil supers. And he's got a new partner…

  • …Sylar (this cannot end well)

  • Christine Rose has been bumped up to being a regular, which hopefully means lots and lots of Mama Petrelli being morally ambiguous, if not all-out evil (I think she takes over the running of the Company and spends her time giving Bennet and Sylar orders)

  • Claire's got two mommies. Meredith's back and creates a rift between Claire and Sandra.

  • Claire learns to fight and turns vigilante

  • West is gone.

  • Elle's back (there was some worry Kristen Bell would be too busy) and she's apparently got a lot of scenes with Bennet (those two had a really great dynamic).

  • Apparently, most of Peter's scenes are with Nathan

  • And most of Hiro's scenes are with Ando

  • The Tim Sale paintings, they are still there (I love those paintings)

The Bad

  • Niki doesn't live (they finally make her awesome, only to kill her off?)

  • Maya's not only still a regular character…

  • …but also Mohinder/Maya is a go

  • Monica and Micah are being written out

  • Nathan finds religion. And there's a whole bunch of stuff about him an Linderman (who is alive, btw) which harps back to the late season one Nathan who I did not like.

  • Matt's trapped in a desert somewhere with an Aboriginal spirit guide (as if he wasn't boring enough, and that second part's bound to be so Hollywood it makes me uncomfortable)

  • I'm not sure what's happening with Bob. I fear they may kill him off (Nooo. Not Bob. He's so banally evil)

And the WTF

  • Niki may be dead, but Ali Larter's still playing a major character

  • Mohinder and Ando get superpowers

  • Future!Sylar is not only living in the Bennet home…

  • …but he also has a son…

  • …called Noah

  • Also, Jack Coleman's gotten himself a blog The HRG Files, which is so far great read.

Why the hell would they get rid of MICAH? He's one of their best characters by far.

LINDERMAN! Because it is Malcolm MacDowell and he, Malcolm MacFuckingDowell. He was fabulous, and really a better overarching series villain than one-bit Sylar.

But WHERE IS CLAUDE. There was gonna be more Claude apparently in s2 and then the strike imploded series 2 and WHERE. IS. CLAUDE?

Lol I haven't even watched this show since s1. (It was dull!) But there are certain far too few bits that don't gel together into a good enough whole that were actually quite appealing.

They wanted to write out Niki and so any connection with her has to go, apparently. But Micah's adorable, and Monica's wonderful and they are the only characters on the show who seem to enjoy having superpowers. I shall miss them.

I do like Linderman just because the guy with healing powers is teh Evil.

They always say they're trying to bring Claude back, and they never do. Whether it's actually because of scheduling conflicts or because CE just doesn't want to, I don't know. But now they're saying Volume Four he may be back (the later half of season three).

I get frustrated with this show a lot. There is so much I don't like (like how half the characters are too dumb to live) and you have to wait so so long for something to happen. But then it has an episode like Company Man or Cautionary Tales which reminds me that it can be a brilliant show from time to time, or just a cool fight scene, and I'm hooked for another half a season at least.

When did Hiro stop enjoying his superpowers? And Peter was weirdly delusional about his commitment to his, though his happiness never actually looked right.

I love Linderman because he is super-influential and potentially terrifying but is a fluffy old man and looks like Santa and does his own cooking. Oh, Malcolm MacDowell.

I care so very little about the show and yet I still keep up with casting info because Claude is just that awesome and I'll totally be parked in front of the TV for him.

You know, watching s1, it seemed like a lot of things actually did progress, yet it was ultimately not grabbing. Company Man was terrific though, yes.

Hiro seemed to get miserable about his powers about the time he found out his Dad was murdered by his childhood hero who was getting revenge in modern times for when Hiro stole his girlfriend back in 16th Century Japan (okay, that may be why I like Heroes - I get to write sentences like that). He may have cheered up about them by the time Season Three starts though.

And, well, who really knows about Peter. He spend most of season two not knowing who the hell he was. Alas, if only Claude was there with his stick to knock some sense into him. I'm actually for giving Claude as spin-off in which he travels from show to show beating characters that bug me with a stick. And Bennet can go along too since every invisible misanthropic Obi-Wan-gone-wrong needs a dorky trigger-happy sidekick.

Oh, I knew that not about Hiro.

I am in full support of this spinoff. But I think Claude should totally be a lone wolf on this mission, even though I do like Noah.
