Chrissie's and Carla's mindwipes just seem to be about to undermine the ethical greyness and tragedy of what happened to Donna. I wonder if they actually have JE in mind when those two scenes were written, because maybe it's deliberate and trying to make JE less tragic and upsetting for the kids.
Of course, in my wildest dreams, it could be set-up for Donna remembering. But I doubt it.
And re: death. I don't think if she had time to sit and think about it (preferably over a cup of tea), Donna would have eventually tearfully consented to the mindwipe and she would never have chosen to die. But I'm with you in that at the time, she seemed to be in deep denial. In that way I don't think it was exactly similar to the guy in SotS who seemed to have some degree of sounder judgement, but the situation is similar in feel enough to draw comparison.
