Being Human
Going in to the finale I was thinking how series two of Being Human has been a bit of a disappointment, but it actually managed to redeem itself a lot in the final.
First of all, the exclamation marks:
Nina lives! Who would have predicted that Nina would have made it through the season? She had everything going against her: being a secondary female character, being the girlfriend of a lead male, being a character that wasn't initially supposed to stick around for more than a handful of episodes in the first place and most damning of all, being my favourite character. And even better, she's returned to snarky series one form. Yay!
But OMG Annie! I was not predicting that Annie would be the one to get killed off. I can't wait to see the gang try and break her out of purgatory. I was initially disappointed with her storyline as it seemed she had gone from being frightened of the door, to being wanting to pass over far too quickly, but the writing this week saved her storyline, as I didn't think that with George and Mitchell gone, she wouldn't have a life. It makes sense in that context.
Herrick! That flashback episode made me realise just how much I missed Herrick. I'm so glad he's back. And I was wondering what became of Daisy.
Tully! That really upset me that moment. But at least he helped George and Nina live.
This episode continued the trend of the series, of being genuinely terrifying. It wasn't half a scary last season. But Adrian Turner was truly frightening in the last episode, and this episode really transformed the base into a house of horrors. The bloody woman in the scary while chamber of werewolf death was terrifying (I don't think I want to know what happened to lab tech guy)
I'm going to miss the house.
I was wondering how they were going to reel Mitchell back in. He became bloody scary and that murder of those twenty people was pretty unredeemable. But then Russell Tovey cried and put his hand out and I was all like 'I love you again, Mitchell. All is forgiven' The Russell Tovey effect – it extends to other characters.
In the end, I kind of liked Lucy. I was sad to see her go. At least she showed remorse. No sympathy for Kemp or lab tech guy though.
George and Nina swiftly moved from the couple I love seeing fight to the couple I remember I also love seeing being adorable. I actually did enjoy those heartbreaking scenes between them in the first couple of the episode. Russell Tovey and Sinead Keenan are freaking amazing in their scenes together – I really can't praise them enough. They managed to convey so much pain, anger and confusion while still showing that these two characters were two people in love.
But for next season they are going to have to learn from the mistakes they made this season. No tonally awkward, going nowhere Annie and/or George humour subplots. No more benching Nina. No more making the characters do out of character things just to propel the plot forward. And if they're going to have Mitchell go dark and be driven by a relationship, can it been more than just a flirtation and a one night stand, because Mitchell/Lucy really didn't work for me.
On the whole, series one was a much better series. But I actually have hope the writers will be more onto it for series three.

Thiiiiis! One minute I was like "shit, guys, I am never going to be able to accept Mitchell as 'not completely evil' again" and the next I was like "OH MITCHELL IT'S OKAY, YOU CAN COME BACK." ^^
I am also going to miss the house!
And ANNIE omg. The thing is, if they do get her back, I don't think they're going to be able to keep it a secret during filming, given the nature of the Internet. We shall see!

I love how they gave the place dodgy electricity just to add another layer of creepiness.
