Quick review of The Dark Knight before I run out to work

I'm in love with Harvey Dent

Possibly come clarification of that statement coming later.

He is! He is! He made the movie for me (not that the movie wouldn't have been fantabulastic without him, he was just he best bit).

His role surprised me. I expected it, of course, and expected him to be a presence, but there was very little hype about his part (it has always been all about Ledger really), so I was kind of pleased to see how great his arc was, and how well it was done and justified. Can't wait to read any more thoughts you have on the film if you get around to it.

I was surprised by the attention give to it as well, his arc was the major arc for me in the movie, rivaling even Bruce's character arc. If Begins was about the creation of a superhero, then Knight was about the creation of a super-villain (Two-Face was about the fall and the motivation, the Joker was about the rise to prominence). And I have gotten around to it and written down more here (http://meddow.livejournal.com/129870.html#cutid1)

Thanks. I just realised and read. Bruce doesn't have so much of an arc this time. He was more in a situation he couldn't get out of, and Harvey seemed like that escape. Sadly, the Joker showed that even the most pure and white of knights can be broken and turned. Ohh, why can't they make more blockbuster films like this which actually have a strong moral and ethical thread running through them? HUH?

Because Hollywood thinks people are idiots, I suppose. I think blockbusters are slowly getting smarter with people realising that the public at large quite enjoy something that makes them think and hopefully TDK rakes in tonnes of awards to match the millions of dollars of profit and there'll be many more such movies in the future.

Thank god. I love the idea of a huge film that can successfully entertain AND challenge the mind and leave you still thinking about it for days afterwards.
