Random FanFic Thoughts
Dec. 8th, 2006 11:33 amIn further evidence that Jack Davenport has taken over my brain, I realised that the Pirates fic I have been working on for the week is the result of watching far too much Coupling. I’d say this is a bad thing, but considering the lack of humour in Scruffington and Norribeth fics maybe it’s not (umm be afraid, ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
jadeddiva, be very afraid). Speaking of said fic, anyone want to beta it? 3,750 words, kind humorous, kind of angsty and a sequel to the Admiral.
Anyway, now that I am happy with that I can go back to agonising over characterisation in my Remus/Ron fic and the big revelation that is going to happen in Chapter 16 of Growing. I completely understand why there is a lot of the same in fanfiction. Every time I take a stab and doing something different I live fear of being flamed for it. I never have of course, but still worry about it a lot.
BTW, why are there no long swashbuckling Norribeth fics. It’s not my OTP, but I do enjoy the pairing a lot and would it kill anyone to have a swordfight, or a mystery or something other than angst? Not that I don’t love angst, it’s just that Sparrington seems to have the monopoly on fun, which I wouldn’t mind except the fact that I seem to be incapable of enjoying any Jack Sparrow pairing. Dude’s got Syphilis and there was no antibiotics back then. Ewww.
