I may have lost my marbles just a little bit, but there just happens to be a rumour floating around the net that Jack Davenport, along with Naomi Watts and Stephen Rea (yay, I adore Stephen Rea, he would make such an awesome Scrimgeour) are in negotiations for HBP. And since as you all probably know, I'm a bit of a fan of Jack Davenport, I like this rumour a lot. But it does beg the question who could be possibly play? There's Slughorn (too young, too thin, too much hair), Bill Weasley (not enough ginger & too old), Rufus Scrimgeour (too young), Fenrir Greyback (too young) Marvolo Gaunt (too young, again), Morfin Gaunt (far too hot) and finally Tom Riddle Snr, which actually would work, but it would be all of five seconds of screen time.

But, just but, there is the shadow of a possible another character.

Okay, it maybe a bit long shot and maybe it's just the very similar hair and we don't even know if RAB would turn up in the final book, never mind the sixth movie, but it could work. And with DH to be released before the HBP movie, it could be possible to have storylines spilling from one to the other.

You know I hadn't even thought of that. I've been wracking my brains trying to figure out who Steve Jack could possibly play in HBP and I never even though of Regulus. Probably because I rarely think of Jack as scruffy (other than Norrington) but wow-- that's a really good call. Personally, I'd see him read the phone book but nice one! :)

Well, I'd been thinking for some weeks that Sirius had been taking style tips from Norrington (now there's a crossover fic I just have to write). I just really really hope the rumours true. A fandom cross over of this calibre would make my 2008.

I would be extremely happy if Jack showed up in the series. He's a great actor and PotC has really sent him into the stratosphere in terms of public recognition. I really wanted to see Gina Bellman as Bellatrix but figured she'd be considered too young to pull it off. Plus I think she's now tied up with Steven Moffat's Jeckyll anyway. (What? Me a Coupling geek? Nah!)

If Stephen Rea does get a role, I might have to drag a friend who refuses to go near Harry Potter to see it. She's been a huge fan since The Crying Game and this might be the thing to get her into Harry after all.

Yes! Get Gina Bellman in the movies somewhere, and then add Richard Coyle as Mundungus Flecture.

Have you seen The Libertine? Not only has it got Norrington & Jack Sparrow pestering each other, but it's got a Steve and Jeff reunion.

If Sarah Alexander were taller, she'd make a brilliant Narcissa... ;) I hadn't thought of Richard Coyle as Dung but that would be brilliant. (Pity he is another character that seems to have been written out, like Ludo Bagman).

I have seen The Libertine! I was pretty giddy over that too! :)

*FLAILS* Also, Stephen Rea? *mini-flail* I was hoping for Hugh Laurie for the part, but that was pretty pie-in-the-sky with 'House', and I love Stephen Rea as well, so - yay!

I think RAB is kind of a long shot, as they cut so much out already that I don't know if they'd include info that wasn't really even actually in the book as a flashback. Hmmm...

The first season of 'Coupling' should be arriving in my mailbox this afternoon. Oh, happy day!

Yay Coupling!

Yeah, RAB is a long shot. But I think having scenes with Jack Davenport going all Indiana Jones with the horocruxes and facing down Voldewart or Bella or whomever did the deed of killing him would be excellent entertainment.

I was hoping Hugh Laurie would make an appearance as well, along with so many other British actors, but unfortunately we're fast running out of characters to be cast now.

Yay! I now know what your icon means! :D Though I'm not sure of the quote on my own - will have to go back and rewatch for accuracy. Oh, darn.

I wish they would make your plot-B into an entire movie.

I'm still holding out for Hugh to do something. Between Stephen reading for the audiobook and Emma, Kenneth, Miranda, and Imelda being in the movies, it would just be like a perfect set!

You know, Hugh would make a brilliant Muggle Prime Minister. Doubt the role would make it into the movie, but it would be a wonderful little cameo role and he would suit it perfectly.

haha...sorry i found this journal entirely by accident but after i found you were posting something very much along the same lines of what I had just posted (slightly more hysterically) in my own journal, i just had to say something.
Firstly, a quick OMG about the whole Jack in Hp thing....two of my very favourite fandoms colliding...i can hardly stop bouncing up and down long enough to write this...

Secondly, whilst the rab thing is quite a good point and a nice idea (and that photo is such a HOT one), I'm not convinced about him not being fenrir...I dunno, i personally think he could do insane and evil yet still somehow grossly sexy very well...and i don't think the films have ever been that worried about book-accuracy...fenrir's age probably wouldn't be all that important...However, I do heartily agree that there is no way he's playing Marvolo, Morfin, Slughorn, Bill, Scrimgeour or Narcissa (um...)

Ok...I will now stop bothering total strangers and go bounce and shriek elsewhere...

I'd agree, Greyback is one of the more likely candidates, especially since they will probably cut out the Remus backstory like they always do and the age really won't matter. I dunno, I just don't see a JackDav character munching down on Bill Weasley since he always has a civilized air to him.

But maybe he's going for a different role in which he does lose that civilized air completely. Be wonderful to see him do it if he does.

I totally agree about the civilised thing (whitewigposhvoice = sex) but having seen him in Dead Man's Chest, plus the best ever Miss Marpe, where he was playing a cockney detective, kind of convinces me he's versatile.

Some people have suggested the Muggle Prime Minister, which would make sense, though it would be rather disappointing. I'm holding out for greyback, to be honest...
