I generally don’t give much attention to Doctor Who tabloid casting and plot rumours, but please please please can this one be true. Pleeeeeaaaaase.

I don’t care how they do it, but Sarah and Jack have to meet. There are two things my Who loving flatmate and I agree on an those are:

1. Harry Sullivan is adorable
And
2. That Sarah Jane Smith and Jack Harkness have to meet, and preferably bicker and flirt.

(We disagree on everything else. If you ever want to be disturbed with cried of “Rose is SPECIAL!” “Rose is NOT SPECIAL!” at all hours of the day, move into the house next to us).

Meanwhile, I’m holding my breath to find out whether Rose is in episodes 12 and 13. While I can get behind Rose showing up in the Doctor-Lite episode and never interacting with the Doctor as a way of showing the audience that Rose has moved on with her life, I really don’t like the idea of her in the season finale. There are so many issues there, it’d be like School Reunion x10, and while I love School Reunion, you’ve got to admit, the plot kind of sucked a bit since School Reunion was all about the issues and how could it not be? An episode being about a relationship is fine for an average episode, but not for a season finale. A season finale is when the plot has to be brilliant as well. Basically, I don’t have enough faith in RTD to believe it wouldn’t be painfully awful to every non Ten/Rose shipper. Not to mention, we haven’t had enough time to really miss Rose yet.

Besides, the one thing we know for definite about the season finale is that it’s Catherine Tate’s last episode. If any companion is going to get the spotlight, it should be Donna.

Both those rumours have been floating about for a while -- Lis said a while back that she had no idea and no one had asked her. So if that new quote is actually true, well, obviously things have changed. John said a few months ago that he was definitely in the finale but people with better knowledge of his schedule seem to think there's a problem with him actually fitting in the shooting given he's doing panto now and then is going to South Africa for 2 weeks, then off on a book signing tour.

Of course, none of that means a thing! I am hoping it's true on both counts too because I'd rather see Sarah back and Jack back yet again than more Rose. Mostly because I'm with you in terms of it just being a bad storyline. And yeah, considering it's going to be Donna's last episode, CT definitely deserves the spotlight.

Having said that, based on set reports (and pics) over at the formerly known as OG Forum, it looks like the Steven Moffat episode (which should be eps 9 and 10) may be very very Donna-heavy. Which is kind of cool. There's some seriously WEIRD shit going down there which is excellent!

Yeah, I’ve seen those photos - identically dressed kids, Donna as the bride and the black widow – very interesting. I can’t wait to see what he's come up with this time :D And from the set report it does appear this season is turning out to have a lot of Donna, which is brilliant for the Donna fans (the few there are, though I think our numbers are growing).

I’m hoping Lis was misleading or hadn’t been asked yet. Sometimes they leave these things to the last minute, I think. Besides, if they do make an appearance, I think it would be a cameo thing at the end of episode 13 and leading up to the Christmas ep which wouldn’t require much time on set.

Yep. Those are the ones. I didn't want to go into details in case you were avoiding some spoilers. The black widow thing has been going on for about a week or two -- verrrrrry interesting. I'm hoping to ask him about it at Gallifrey although Im sure he'll be as tightlipped as usual maybe I can talk to him while he's pissed out of his head.

I love Donna so I don't mind her having more focus. I do hope our numbers grow -- I really think people are being stupid. Just because she's a certain way on her own comedy show doesn't mean she'll be that way in 13 episodes of a science fiction programme. I just saw her (briefly) in the 2005 Bleak House and gee, not a funny voice or annoying character in sight. I say give her a chance!

I hope Lis was misleading too -- I really would love to see more SJS and miss the kids' show already. Then again, she's been one of my fave companions since 1978 so I am a bit biased! :)

Okay, your mission, Ragdoll, if you choose to accept it, is to corner Steven Moffat and get the scoop ;)

And there's nothing wrong with having a pro-Sarah bias. I've got one too, though mine only started last year.

Someone told me it was all a hallucination - bringing Rose back and all. I'm down with that shit - having a mad parade of past companions would be pimp. But then again, I'm always of the mindset that Donna & Martha > Rose.

So...since you're my current Doctor Who guru ;) for some odd reason last night, I was reading Four/Romana fic. And then Ten/Romana. Romana sounds awesome in fic, which means hopefully she's awesome on the show. Do you know if it's worth it to track down old Who episodes for the sake of watching Romana?

The Sontarans, who since they are showing up in episodes 4 and 5 may yet be in the finale, are at war with a species of shapeshifters, so they may well yet be evil dopplegangers, which I would love.

Romana is quite awesome in the show, since she's smarter than the Doctor and ends up playing the straight-man scientist to Four's buffoonish brilliance a lot (Tom Baker had gone off the rails at this point). And City of Death is certainly worth watching. It's a comedic story written by a pre-Hitchhikers Douglas Adams (under a pseudonym), involves the theft of the Mona Lisa and lots of the Doctor and Romana running around Paris (since they filmed it there)and even has a cameo by John Cleese. And many would argue it's the best serial ever (I don't think so, but it is one of the best).

Ooooo...Romana sounds fantastic. I've heard about that serial. I'll have to find it.

I am with you 100% on Evil Dopplegangers...especially if they are evil dopplegangers of Rose. Or maybe even Jackie Tyler. I would give anything for her return...and she met Donna. My head might explode from the genius of that moment.

OMG. Jackie meeting Donna would be 25 different kinds of brilliance! Their powers combined would have the Daleks running scared.

Oooo.

Jack + Sarah Jane = Why did that never occur to me before? That would AWESOME, in the full sense of it invoking some SERIOUS awe.

I actually, now that you have mentioned it, wonder at how there's basically no Jack/Sarah Jane fic out there. At least, not that I've stumbled across...

I know, it would be brilliant! They can have debated (read=arguments) about the best methods by which to save the planet and flirt at the same time :D

And [livejournal.com profile] gwynevere1 recced me this (http://community.livejournal.com/sarahjane_fic/194125.html) fic today after reading your comment. I haven't had a chance to read it myself yet.
