It is a very good day to be a Sarah Jane fangirl.
In a snippet of one interview Lis Sladen spilled the beans - we are getting Sarah in the season finale! Squee!
And mentioned we're getting 24 more episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures. Squee!
And, managed to reassure me about my fears about cast bloat for the season finale:
Oh, Lis, you rule. I agree with SFX, give the woman a damehood.
On the other hand, it’s looking less likely that we’re going to have evil doppelgangers. I suppose I’ll survive.
I’m still hoping that Rose is only going to be in the Doctor-lite episode. Maybe they can do a three episode finale like last season, Rose helping out against the big bad in episode eleven, and Martha, Sarah and Jack in episodes 12 and 13.
Now can we please have a SJA/Doctor Who/Torchwood crossover. Luke and Ten need to meet – those two geeking out and bouncing off each other would be the most adorable thing in the history of television. Not to mention, Ten and Jack should help out, there could a lot of fun to be gotten out of Alan and Chrissie’s reactions to Sarah’s collection of (seemingly) younger men.
ETA: It has come to my attention that 24 episodes = six months. Six months of SJA! XD

“I don't think I'll be at the centre of things. I would think it would be apportioned off, a bit here a bit there, and the major people will be the Doctor and Donna. That is my take on it. We are coming back to reinforce an already established team. So I don’t think I’ll be leading the group, if you know what I mean! I think there will be a distinct kind of sectioning and apportioning off. Because you can only do so much with so many people.” (Emphasis mine)

Date: 2008-01-26 03:24 pm (UTC)I'm still astounded at the number of SJA episodes greenlighted. Last year, we had 10. This year it's 24. It makes me wonder if it'll be 12 2 parters or 2 seasons of 6 stories each or what. Whatever it is, it's glorious. I'm so happy!
And seriously, Alan needs to see the Doctor and Sarah together...I'm all for Sarah/Alan (cos he's adorable) and even at 60, Sarah's way too young for a 900 yr old man! :)

Date: 2008-01-26 10:02 pm (UTC)Maybe they're filling in the gap of New Who during the specials. It'd be awesome if get put in New Who's timeslot. And SJA really is turning into a Classic series's natural successor, you'd have that many episodes in a run of Classic Who.
And there's nothing like a bit of jealousy to kick a characters butt enough to get them to act. Well, that's my hope anyway with Alan.

Regarding the possibility of crossovers, even if they don't do a proper one, I'd be a very happy fan indeed if, for example, the Doctor was to end up at some point in the 2020's and run into one of the kids when they're grown up, particuarly if it's Luke (three words; Doctor Luke Smith).
