Dun Duh Duh Duh

I do adore a good dysfunctional family having adventures together, and here it was. Indy (although I can't remember many people actually calling him Indiana, other than Marian), Marian and Mutt, as well as John Hurt missing a few marbles and Ray Winstone, whose character was, I thought, the biggest waste of time in the movie (and such a same because I was so excited Ray Winstone was in Indy 4 after seeing him in The Proposition). And then there was Cate Blanchett, who did not get a cool death and didn't really get to stretch her acting muscles, but seemed to be enjoying herself thoroughly.

Things I really liked included:

Indiana/Marian OTP. She's still a spitfire. He's still exhausted cynical Indiana. Mutt was rather good. There wasn't quite enough amusing Dad shock for my liking.

There was best sword fight/chase I've seen since Dead Man's Chest, a wonderful opening slightly-pointless-but-who-cares-because-it-was-so-beautifully-shot car chase, giant killer ants (ants freak me out), Roswell aliens (Roswell aliens also freak me out), the whole silly thing with the waterfalls, the snake-rope scene, and Indiana Jones meeting the nuclear age.

The biggest problem I had with the movie is that fact it felt just ever so slightly pointless, and it never managed to shake it off. But it was fun, and I suppose the fact it was just a fun romp was the point.

Anyway, it was good. I have a feeling Indy 5 is now in the works and so long as the family comes along, I'll be happy and make a trip out to the movies to see it.

Heh, this goes with my theory. The whole thing was "ridiculous" but kind of in a "oh well, it was still fun to watch" kind of way :)

I just tend to be verbose because I can never quite word my thoughts right. Damn it.
