Anyone else feeling a deep sense of fandom dread? My three major fandoms are all having major injections of canon in the next few months, for two of them it will be the last hurrah and characters I adore have their heads potentially on the chopping block and the other is introducing a major character who may stick around for a long time and has the potential to incredibly annoying (she also has the potential to make me cheer from my couch, but being the cynic I am I think the other's more likely).

I don’t want to be one of those "change is coming therefore I must bitch" people and I don't want to be one of those "I hate it before I see it" people. I want to be optimistic and welcoming of change but I feel that I'm becoming one of them. Thing is, with three fandoms, chances are that in at least one of them something craptastically awful will occur. Whereas if it was only one fandom that was getting new canon, then I could be optimistic.

So basically the more I get what I want (new canon), the worse I feel about it. That's not right.

Yes, I'm not going to be terribly shocked if Norrington goes the way of Boromir, either.

Whose death are you afraid of in Harry Potter? Tonks? Snape?

It's not really my favourite characters that I worry about most, it's the characters I want to hug that I worry about being killed off. I think I would be able to handle Norrington's death much better than I would if Governor Swann was to die.

Tonks is a worry but like Snape I sort of expect it (even though I think it would be more interesting if he lived). I'm more worried that Tonks'll just die off in a sentence and that'll be it (same goes for Norrington - I want a proper death). I'll be absolutely devastated though if it's Neville, Luna, Molly or McG.

I have a terrible feeling Governor Swann is not making it out of AWE alive. When he was standing castrated wigless in Beckett's office in DMC, with the pointed-sword imagery, I could hear the bell toll.

I mean, he's a Disney Parent. He can't survive until the final reel. Actually, I'm going to be surprised if he makes it to the 30-minute mark.

Ah, the good old Disney parent effect. It's a force more constant than gravity. I remember being really hacked off as a child that I didn’t have a dead parent because according to every movie I had seen at the time, people with two live parents never went on to achieve anything.

So Governor Swann isn't going to last out the first half hour. Norrington's the bad guy, but third fiddle behind Davy Jones and Beckett and thus won't probably last more than an hour especially with the massive amounts of other charcters (and thus no time for a redemptive arc. Really, what am I supposed to do with the rest of the movie (other than be wishing a plaugue on the houses of T&T)?

Well, I do think Norrington is going to be redeemed--and possibly die in the process. I was quite serious about the "goes the way of Boromir" bit: I can completely see TnT doing something similar with James. He might die, but, at least, he'll have a *good* and *meaningful* death scene.

I think I can deal with Swann dying, so long as they also kill off Bootstrap Bill. I will produce copious cranky wank if the father who abandoned his family gets to live happily ever after with his loyal son, while the father who cared and provided for his child is rewarded with a miserable end. Let Will fulfill his promise and save his father from Davy Jones's curse, but, then, have Bill turn around and sacrifice himself in some ironic-yet-appropriate manner.

Yeah, I'm going to have to bury myself in AU fanfic for a week's worth of mourning after AWE opens.

Word to the nth on Bootstrap. If I were Will I would have left him to rot. Not to mention that even when he was in a scene with Jack he still bored me half to death. I'm tired of that whole plot line.

Have you read the leaked spoiler script by the way?

No, I haven't read it, but I have (often unintentionally) seen enough rumors about it. Although, a lot of what I've seen merely confirmed the suspicions I had after seeing DMC, anyway.

I know the feeling. I'm worried about a lot. And although I like to think I'm not one of those "OMG JKR IS TEH EBIL" people, there are things that bugged me about the past two books. However, I think if that happens again, I'll get over it again. Or so I hope.

Well, we'll all get over whatever happens. I am glad though that I have an internet connection this year and if an equivalent to Snape killing Dumbledore happens I have fandom to fall back on. Having people devastated by the same thing makes me fell better quicker.
