House!

I've gotten so much into House this season, episodes are getting their own review posts. Don't have an icon though, so Martha will have to do (which leads me to wonder why I have never seen Martha-on-House crossover fic).

Lol Foreman screaming like a little girl.

I'm starting to think the House writers aren't happy unless one of the characters is falling into a deep downward spiral. It's not so much a criticism as an observation. But also I'm thankful they picked Chase for this, because Thirteen getting a similar storyline would be unbearable. (Plus, awesome continuity, since it harps back to Chase's backstory which hasn't been touched upon in a long time)

Oh, Chase.

Signs something has gone very wrong with your life as per this episode:
1.A priest won't give you forgiveness.
2.You're ignoring your genetic disposition for alcoholism and getting wasted.
3.House of all people is recommending you seek professional help.

I'm starting to wonder how this storyline is going. So far I can see one of two possibilities: either with Chase passed out drunk in a drain somewhere after quitting his job, or Chase being lead out of the hospital in handcuffs.

Oh, Chase.

And Wilson's rather sad in his own way as well, still talking to his long dead girlfriend. Though its nice that the show still remembers Amber existed.

But, still loving the old team being back together, and even better, the complete lack of Thirteen in this episode. I am really enjoying the new, improved, Vicodin-free and willing to engage with people House. Loved his and Chase's moment and their Pinky and the Brain esq-conning of the patient just afterwards. This is the show I once loved.

And I'm just going to pretend the Huddy shipping scenes never happened.

"Lol Foreman screaming like a little girl."

OMG I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS NOW.

OH CHASE I LOVE YOU AND YOUR HORRIBLY TRAUMATIC BACKSTORY THAT MOST OF YOUR FRIENDS DON'T SEEM TO REALIZE IS THERE. And I agree it suits him best because he's got a history with big moral dilemmas and stupid mistakes coming out of trying to do the right thing and the way his past is kind of always present even without having to be addressed.

Um, I really love Chase.

Omg, he and House teamed up to con a patient together? That gives me a season 1, fake southern accent flashback. <3

And if they stick with this prickly-but-trying House (which sounds to me like s1, again), this could be good. They can wail "people don't change" all they want, but the fact is they've changed House's character over the years and even the most stubborn, angry people are going to be some kind of affected by things over time. And this character really needed to stop going in boring, gimmicky circles that meant nothing. (If you're gonna have a character arc, there ought to be a point.)

The beautiful thing about d/ling it later on is that I can just FAST FORWARD every time Cuddy appears. Oh, it will be glorious.

You know, I was watching the beginning of the The Tyrant having no clue what was going to happen because I hadn't read any spoilers and I was mourning because it would be a prefect opportunity for a great Chase storyline because it would perfectly tie into his past, but the writers always pass on a great Chase storyline. And then they went ahead and gave the storyline to Chase. It's like they suddenly woke up one morning and got a clue (I wonder if Hugh Laurie getting some degree of creative control this season had a hand in it).

But yes, that made me think. Because Chase was the only character on the entire show they could have done it with. Wilson, Foreman, Thirteen, Taub and Cuddy are far too self-centered and it would have come completely out of left-field for them to give half a damn about genocide in Africa, and with Cameron it would have been also OoC to go there, because Cameron has principles, but she bends when they're challenged. But Chase, although he tries his best to be apathetic and uncaring, when he's really pushed the wanna-be priest comes to the surface. And oh, I'm loving the show touching upon his issues with god and his issues with his parents, with him rebelling against the priest and the teachings on the church, but at the same time desperately needing the priest's approval and when not find peace, becoming an amalgam of his parents by drinking and emotionally abandoning his wife. Best. Chase. Storyline. Ever.

And I just love the confessional scene (have you seen the episode yet?) because he's angry, and I think he should be because he was trapped. Either he could live with one death on his conscience, or he could live with hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of deaths on his conscience.

I really love Chase too, by the way.

Not so much team up, as House drags Chase in on it, but it's great to see those two share scenes all the same. What episode was the southern accent? For the life of me I can't remember which one and I want to watch it. And yes, House character development for the win!

I think with Cameron and Chase it starts at the same point of thinking murder is wrong and then taking different offshoots. With Cameron, I don't think it's so much about bending to pressure as it leads her to be unable to commit one herself; with Chase, whose morals are more squiggly and out on a ledge most of the time for similar reasons that make hers more centered, it leads him to what he did.

If it was Hugh Laurie's idea to give Chase a story, my love for him has just like...reached capacity. <33333

I've seen most of Brave Heart but haven't actually seen the confession and drunkenness yet; this is probably going to happen in the next couple days though. Right now I'm thinking I can get why the priest couldn't absolve him, but I still think the thing he was doing it to combat is definitely worth consideration before he gets written off.

The southern accent episode was s1, the one with the poisoned pants. I believe it was just called Poison. So much squee.

I've watched the confession scene now. I wanna watch it again! My impression was not specifically that the priest was refusing to absolve him, but saying -- and he's got a point -- that rattling off a few prayers isn't going to make it better. (It's not even going to make Chase feel better.) And that actions naturally have consequences. It's just...that's pretty much what he's trying to avoid. :/ One could wish that he'd be more understanding of Chase's point, I guess. But man, I loved him venomously shooting back about the slippery slope. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." And I was actually a bit curious about when his last confession was.

Also wanted more drunk!Chase. He barely got to act off his head and you just know it'd have been amazing.

I'm curious about his last confession as well. Hell, I want to know what specifically caused him to leave the seminary (because I imagine his last confession was around that point). It was supposedly a test of faith that he failed, but Chase is off the bat bitter and combative in this episode, and was back in season one with the nun. Or maybe Chase is just angry because seminary wasn't what he wanted or needed it to be.

I'm really glad they didn't got with the understanding-wise-Priest-who-comes-up-with-the-answer-needed route. The Priest came up with an answer that would give Chase absolution, but absolution at the cost of Chase's future, as well as Cameron's, Foreman's, and probably Cuddy and House's as well since the diagnostic department and hospital would come under some very intense scrutiny and heads would roll. And that's a lot of innocent parties who would be dragged down, leaving five less doctors in the world, something House probably considered when deciding to bail Chase and Foreman out last week. Actually, I wish we got more of House's reasoning and motivations for his actions last week.

Hopefully we get more drunk!Chase in future. Right before House personally drags Chase to therapy. I so hope this storyline is going to be about House taking the lesson he's learned from his own downward spiral and using them to help Chase get out of his.

I kinda just figured it was House taking on his secret daddy role and helping Chase out for reasons as pragmatically explainable as they were emotionally protective.

And for Chase, I think it had to do with him going into seminary trying to work through his parental issues in the most obvious way due to probably a religious upbringing and it just making no sense because of those same parental issues.

And the thing with therapy is, what I've been thinking, that the confidentiality clause has exceptions and a therapist might find it necessary to report a murder.
