It's Oscar weekend and I'm all actually excited about it this year cos In The Loop's up for an award (though it should be up for two - Peter Capaldi was robbed). Anyway, to celebrate, I made 15 In The Loop gifs.

Oh and sadly Peter never had a shot at getting an Oscar nom. The film was simply not popular enough, here, and he's pretty unknown in the States. What I was disappointed in, though, was that he didn't get a BAFTA nom for it! That surprised me.

I was hoping that with In the Loop making so many of last year's top ten lists, he may have a shot regardless of box office performance.

I saw him on the BAFTA long list for best actor, not supporting, which may have been why he didn't get a nomination. He was the stand out of the film, but still, with it really being an ensemble cast, he wasn't really the lead.

Now if he doesn't take away a TV BAFTA, that will be just outrageous.

It's very tricky with the type of film it was, critically acclaimed but seen relatively speaking by so few. It's not like critics are members of the Academy. I think most imports(so to speak) need to be really big hits here to get recognition. Also, it seems easier for Brit actresses to get noms - see Carey Mulligan - not that she didn't deserve it. Oscar really likes British ladies a lot.

Yes, I noticed that as well, he should have been up for supporting.
