Fantastic!
Jun. 17th, 2007 09:50 pmWhoa! That was a lot for one episode. I think I’m still processing it.
Jack – I remembered why I adore you. Please, please stay away from Torchwood. You may be forever, but life is still too short to be hanging out with that lot. And you said “fantastic” – Oh my god I love you!
Martha – Go find someone who will tell you how brilliant you are and give you a hug. Go find Sarah Jane or Harriet Jones or someone who is capable of seeing the asset you are - because you are wonderful and Ten is an idiot. Or alternatively, kick Ten in the balls. Although you may want to wait until after you save the world to do so since a kick now would probably be lost on him after that sucker punch from the Master.
Ten – I bet Harriet Jones is looking pretty great now, isn’t she?
Yep, I’m still bitter about The Christmas Invasion. But how brilliant is it that the Doctor may actually have to admit that it was a stupid thing to do?
Confession time – I’ve never seen on old school episode with the Master in and what I’ve heard about him can be summed up as panto villain. And really, he was kind of panto villain. Definitely OTT. But on stealing the Tardis and leaving the Doctor stranded at the end of time - that was awesome. And did he fake the whole utopia thing? Cause that low. So long as his evil schemes remain delightfully evil, I think I can put up with the OTT.
Regeneration! I adore New Who regeneration scenes. I would say I want more but of course I don’t.
Explanations! Love Jack actually telling us how he ended up in Cardiff and the Ten explaining why he dumped him.
Flashbacks! Nine! Rose being appropriately rather than gratuitously mentioned! Jack and Martha being bitchy about the way Ten treats them!
Fob Watch! You know what I think would be a perfect way for the season to end? With a Blink style montage of random human’s going about their daily lives with fob watches in sight.
My only real criticism is that it really seemed to be too much for only 40 odd minutes and the whole plot of the humans travelling to utopia seemed just there to give the characters a place to interact and rather pointless. Whole thing could have taken place in a broom closet and not much would have changed.
And next week – UNIT!

Date: 2007-06-17 11:47 pm (UTC)I'm guessing that the Utopia Flight will return, either in the last two episodes of this series or sometime in the next one. Too much setup for it not to, really.
