I was looking through a picspam I did ages ago for this and noticed

That hasn’t been in series four so far has it?
There’s a wristwatch in the background that suggests contemporary Earth, but the blue suit was worn in the Sontaran two-parter and I’m very sure that’s not from Partners in Crime.
While I’m not particularly knowledgeable in 1920s wristwatches, it couldn’t be from The Unicorn and the Wasp since he wears a white shirt in that episode underneath the brown suit. It’s part of the cinema trailer which was released before the Silence in the Library and the season finale were filmed.
But wasn’t Partners in Crime filmed back to back with Turn Left, which is how they got the Billie cameo in the first place? Does this mean the Doctor is in fact in Turn Left?

Date: 2008-05-14 05:18 pm (UTC)I guess I thought it was Moran, because I still have a great deal of residual hate for him for "Sleeper" and didn't love TFoP as much as everyone else seems to have. *shrugs*
I'd still take Davies over Jones, McRae, or Moran. Then again, I didn't hate LotTL as much as everyone else seems to have. *shrugs again*

Date: 2008-05-13 07:50 pm (UTC)Okay the shooting blocks for S4 were as follows (as per Wiki)
1. Voyage of the Damned
2. Planet of the Ood/Unicorn & the Wasp
3. Fires of Pompeii
4. Partners in Crime
5. Sontaran Stratagem/Poisoned Sky
6. Doctor's Daughter/Midnight
7. Turn Left
8. Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead
9. #12/Journey's End
So you were close -- TDD and Midnight were shot at the same time (ish) and then Turn Left was right after. But obviously there were pickup shots for earlier episodes at the same time as Turn Left. It may have been to accomodate Billie's schedule and to keep the chatter down for Rose's return. Esp when it would've been bad if she had been seen coming and going from sets a lot -- it definitely would've taken a lot away from Catherine's premiere if all people were talking about was Rose, Rose, Rose (it's bad enough some people ARE and keep forgetting that there's more to the show than 12 seconds of Rose Tyler each week). Plus from a business/organizational standpoint, it makes more sense because you can just utilize the actor's time!

Date: 2008-05-15 01:43 am (UTC)When you shoot footage of stuff that has to be added to a production that's mostly done much earlier, it's called "pick ups". I would assume Rusty had always planned on those scenes to be there. It just was a good surprise.

Date: 2008-05-13 07:55 pm (UTC)Oh, and it was Tom McRae's script that was moved to S5 (or so it's been rumoured) due to similarities to something else that was shot. What's odd is that Tom was talking about his script a year ago February which makes me wonder how all that happened without Rusty noticing until it was too late? I'm not too worried about McCrae's career though -- I've noticed his name on other stuff recently like Miss Marple and Lewis so he's definitely a busy boy! :)

Date: 2008-05-13 07:38 pm (UTC)It does look like the Ood cage scene. Doesn't make sense they would cut it though, since that episode is the shortest of the season so far.
