I've been waiting for this little vid bunny for ages. After my last vid, I decided I wanted the subject matter of my next vid to be something less dark. Plus I wanted something not too complex in terms of effects as I've just switched from WMM to Adobe Premiere Elements and I'm still finding my way around. I had a hell of a time exporting it though.

While the show is shot deliberately to be as unframed a stark as possible and the dialogue is really the show's signature, TTOI is actually ridiculously fun to vid because there's just so much movement. Not only to the cameras constantly move, but the actors are always giving these great big gestures. It makes for a great source. I do have a problem with talking heads though, as was to be expected I suppose given the source material.

Making this I also had a thought: In sixteen episodes and a movie, Malcolm has never once been punched. That somehow seems baffling.

Oh my god this is really, really. Really. Awesome. I've been wanting to do a vid about this show but (1) I have never made (a complete) one before and (2) I was worried about all the "talking heads" as you put it. But this was great! You really did tell so much with just their expressions.

Can I ask what program you used to make it?

I used Adobe Premiere Elements. I'm not sure how easily available it is or how expensive, as it came pre-installed on my laptop, but it's a lot easier to trim and place clips than it is in Windows Movie Maker (which was what I was using previously).

Ooh, I love this video! Really well put together and all those brilliant Malc/Nicola moments. My favourite bit is the smirk he gives her when he realises she's joking about her daughter. You sense that they'd probably get on quite well if she wasn't a minister landing herself (or finding herself plonked) in disasters week after week.

EHheeheh, omfg, that's hi-larious and I love it. It's odd to hear that upbeat music with that pairing, but it makes me smile and laugh. It's kinda perfect.

I don't think I could have done a vid for the pairing without the music being upbeat. The quick tempo made it easier to avoid the talking head problem.

Ha! That was awesome! I have never seen this show but I have seen a few people talk about it. I could feel how prickly they are and how much they probably enjoy it. I loved the use of movement with the show, especially walking/running, closing doors and hilarious hand gestures and facial expressions. The instrumental section near the end made me giggle.
